Individual Psychotherapy

Individual psychotherapy is always a good starting place to figure out who you are and why you are at the place in life you now find yourself. It works well either alone or in conjunction with couples therapy. The journey here is deeper and tailored just to you—your history, your background, the members of your family of origin, your experiences with them, and how you have grown into the person you are today. By contrast, the purpose of couples therapy is to explore the partnership itself, how it functions, and how it can best serve each person within it. The goal in couples therapy is to maximize happiness within the couple, balancing the needs of two individuals who are very different from each other. So the goals are very different.

I have worked with individuals for more than 20 years and what continually strikes me most is the uniqueness of each person.  It is  challenging and rewarding to help a person get to know themselves on deeper levels.  It is exciting to see people begin to finally understand why they think and feel the way they do.  Over time I am able to witness small changes they are able to make in their lives and eventually I can see large transformations.  If you are considering entering psychotherapy I would invite you to have a consultation appointment to see if you are comfortable with the way I work.  Even in a consultation appointment most people walk away knowing more about themselves than they previously did.
